Seminar By The Sea
Dates: October 30-November 1, 2009
Cost: $200 deluxe, $150 regular (subtract $10 if pre-registered by October 1) How Should Christian Americans Interact With the Rest of the World? We live in an era when Americans- even in difficult economic times- remain wealthy and secure compared to most of the world. Yet we find outelves flummoxed by the enormity of the Christian's task, unsure how best to approach issues like globalization, micro-business, fair trade, missions, terrorism, and climate change. Join Fred Gregory and Hal & Nancy Thomas for a weekend's exploration as to what it means to be an American Chritian in today's world. We'll consider the ways our personal decisions and lifestyles make a difference, for good and otherwise. And we'll explore what we see God doing today around the world, and ask how can be a part of it. Fred Gregory has served for more than 40 years with international non-governmental organizations in the developing world. He has engaged in war relief, refugee assistance, long-term development, and was a Peace Corps country director in Uzbekistan and Bangladesh. Hal & Nancy Thomas spent 18 years as Friends missionaries in partnership with the Bolivian Friends Church, 10 years directing a program of intercultural studies at the Bolivian Evangelical Seminary, and currently serve in the Latin American Doctoral Program in Theology. Please try to register by October 1 so we can send you some materials to read in preparation for the weekend.
